What is the difference between hard and soft Anzac biscuits?

Hard, crunchy Anzac biscuits are cooked a bit longer so they’ll get crispy, crunchy and gloriously caramelised for a satisfying snap once they have cooled. Soft Anzacs are cooked a little shorter and are nice and chewy.

TIP: If your Anzacs are a little crisper than you prefer just leave them out overnight and they will take some moisture back in from the air around them

What is a substitute for golden syrup in Anzac biscuits?

Agave nectar, Brown rice syrup, Cane syrup, Corn syrup, Honey, Light molasses and Maple syrup can be used as a substitute for golden syrup in Anzac biscuits

Why are they called Anzac biscuits?

Anzac biscuits have long been associated with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) established in World War I. It has been claimed that these biscuits were sent by wives and women’s groups to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transportation.

Are Anzac biscuits Australian?

The origin of Anzac biscuits is contested between Australia and New Zealand. The actual recipe for the biscuit has been found long before the formation of the ANZAC Corps, and many of the first recipes for Anzac biscuits differ from the modern version.
